Let me join everyone thanking you for posting this. Even though we have hummers feeding in our garden, we've never seen an active nest. And IMO you are just as lucky to have southern alligator lizards climbing your rose vines as hummingbirds nesting in them. Both are remarkable creatures.

Thanks for the camera action. We have year round Anna's and they cirle my husband while he is out having a cigar. If he is sitting in his outdoor chair and they get a whiff of the smoke up they come within feet of his face doing a dance for him...they either like the smoke or hate it...we are not sure.

Fantasic idea setting up a comera such a wonderful hummingbird. I get alot of hummingbirds mostly the rufous. How can i entice them to nest in my garden? Do they just like rosebushes the best? What kind of fibre or materials could I hang outside to encourge them to use for nesting? I am going to San Diego in April and have seen many hummingbirds in the gorge behind our condo as well.

It was the mama bird that moved the egg. The lizard showed its face to the camera and shortly after the mom swooped in and move the egg.

Is there a chance it is safe?

Pheobe is beautiful. I plant my garden so that it attracts hummingbirds here in Southern Louisiana. They love Mexican Cigar, Pentas & my Crepe Mrytle tree. I plant their favorites in front of dining room window so that I can watch for them the same times morning & evening. They will even feed if I am sitting outside nearby very still. Thank you for sharing this with us.

It has been a blessing to watch your precious hummingbird cam. Yes, I wept when Sassy died. This morning I see Phoebe is doing her Momma thing and one egg is beginning to hatch. Never posted any comments previously, but now have been banned? Are live comments limited to your immediate family and close friends? Thanks for sharing the live video feed. We observed a sweet nest in a shrub in our yard last summer. My husband I observed closely as eggs hatched and Momma worked overtime. We cheered when both our fledglings took flight. :o
