Hummingbird Cam Guestbook

Comments:
This is my first visit and I am thrilled. I WILL return. I am planning an area in my yard just for butterflies and hummingbirds. I was cleaning in my mother's kitchen, after her passing, when a hummingbird came to the window. We were both fixed on each other for over 30 seconds. I took it as an signal of sharing grief. It's a moment I will always cherish.
Thank you for what you do for these small creatures. I miss having them around. The future offers more precious moments once my project is completed.

I want to thank you so much for ALL you have done to make it possible for us to watch such wonderful birds. Saw Ava and Pavan rescued and cared for Monique and now we have these little ones at Moniques. You, Mr and Mrs P, and Monique are awesome folks, and care so deeply for hummers. Now we too love little hummers and thank you from the depth of my heart for what you do for them and for us to enjoy.

Thank you so much, Mr. and Mrs. P. I have enjoyed your hummingbird cam and been so impressed with your dedication to hummingbirds and to educating the public about them. I just showed Phoebe, Lola and Crystal to my preschool class and their parents on April 12. We were learning about hummingbirds and it was awesome to see baby hummingbirds live and up close. What a wonderful service you have provided and continue to provide. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I am just a bit concerned over what appears to be some fishing line coming out from the right side of the nest...we recently lost one of our mother birds who became tangled in some of the fishing line she had used to build her nest and she strangled to death...please clip that loop of fishing line with scissors so this doesn't happen to your birds as well, if in fact it is fishing line that I think I see....thank you!!! I love this Hummingbird Cam...I look forward to it every year...

Admin reply: Thanks, for your concern.
It isn't fishing line. They will be fine.

Thank you very much for providing such a wonderful site. This has been therapeutic for me, when stress hits, I get on here and can feel the anxiety just fall away from me. I have lots of gardens and love the birds, including the Hummers come and enjoy what I have planted. I have rescued three hummers, wish I had the one photo of the one sitting on my mom's finger, this particular bird hit a huge window in my tiny town, I picked him up and headed back home. Took him about 4 hours to get his wits about him and I released him, once he was stable. This site has been a treat!!!

Hi there everyone. Not sure how these comments here are viewed by subscribers or all guests but I have a question. My hummers have not returned to feed in my yard this year. I see a few pass through but usually I have one Costa take control of my lemon tree and this other cactus too that flowers. I always used to see many dancing after the little gnat like bugs too. Nothing though. What could be wrong? I keep my nectar feeders clean and fresh. I provide clean birdbath scrubbed daily. Most of my regular birds are still coming. However I have been getting a few pigeons now that I never used to have in my yard before, could that be the difference? I would love to hear your thoughts anyone if you can tell me whats up. Thanks so much :!thinking:

Greetings:

I stumbled upon this site through Facebook and am so happy I did. I've been a hummingbird fan for many years, but never more than the past five. I have 3 feeding stations that I tend to beginning the first week of May through the middle of September. I've noticed I seem to have 1 male ruby throated that enjoys when I water my plants since he is right there enjoying the spray. I hope to see him again this year. Anyway, thank you so much for this website. It helps me to see and learn more about these little guys.

I love hummers and have been feeding and observing them for several years, first time following them in their nest. I have followed a couple different eagle nests, this year following Alessondra's owls and happened across the hummer cam. I love it, wonderful. Since I'm from the east coast all I've ever seen is a ruby throat.

I have been following Phoebe for three or four years now. I teach 7th grade life science, and I incorporate a couple of live webcams into instruction for my students. They keep nature journals and follow the life cycle of nesting, egg-laying, feeding, and fledging. Kids love it, and I am positively addicted to following Phoebe. I'm not sure why, but I also enjoy the background sounds of the other birds in your neighborhood- and even the planes! I guess it just provides a context for the little miracles of nature that can be found almost anywhere if you will just look for them! Thanks for making this possible by taking care of the camera and intervening when needed.

Hi there!
We came across your website just a week ago for the first time. My little son, our friends and me, we all love to see the hummingbird webcam. My son asks me every single afternoon when he returns from school to "switch on the kolibri". In Germany we don´t have any hummingbirds. For us it is a great privilege to be able to have such a close look at their nest in your garden. Thank you so much for keeping the webcam going thereby sharing this great experience with so many people all over the world. I hope you get back at least twice the unmeasureable joy you provide to us! May you and all your family and loved ones be free from suffering, may you all be happy, healthy and live your lives with ease!

Mr. P, For four years now I have been landing on the branch and sharing with so many delightful watchers. What a thoughtful person you are to go to all the trouble sharing Phoebe's nest and adventures. This winter has been difficult personally, so many hospital visits with my husband, two adult children losing jobs, and this weekend one burned out of her home by an electrical fire (thankfully all safe and in a hotel tonight). In all of it I kept up with your site and really got encouraged seeing the little ones grow under Moniques care. Today, a hard one, I am thrilled to have been able to see the 'launch' of Ana & Pavan. Can't say THANK YOU enough. We need these little gems along life's road to keep going. May you and those who work with you be Blessed.

Pungh,
Been an interesting & tough time for me, likely for U & everyone. Hard to get over the fact our girl is gone but we enjoy her twins. Grateful to Monique & fun to watch them - leaf bathing was wonderful. Look forward to release. I'll worry what's next?
Don't know if there is activity in the yard but I must say the view since Monique took nest has become - how do I say? Depressing. This is up all day for me. I rarely if ever see anything but the empty hole in my heart. Such fun when U moved cam to pheeder over summer. Consider moving it back for a little while? Understand you may want to keep it here for the release & it may be a time consuming hassle to relocate. Thought I would ask.
I assume that U can see we're all on site chatting & waiting, hoping a new girl will come. The community is supportive & we raised enough funds to keep the twins fed. Monique has new nestlings I'll send more $$. Thanks for all you do. Sure miss you.

this is day 6 since Phoebe mama didn't come home, yet 6 days closer to the fledge of these amazing "wind" twins (as i call them).

This 'rehabber' experience has affected me, my 1st grader, and our family in such a profound way. My daughter's whole class gets exposure to this phenomenon of bird rescue, and at such a young age. Who knows how these lessons will affect the futures of the kids. At least it will guarantee exceptional memories!!!

Phoebe and eggs only entered my life less than 3 weeks ago. I have learned so much by watching. This experience has brought such joy. Joy is hummingbird medicine. As with everyone I feel so bad for the babies. It's hard to think that wild birds and animals don't grieve for their young when they are taken away like what happened last year but we grieve for them. I hope Phoebe is alright. I was wondering if her young would take over in the rose bush. I knew the one that I started watching about four years ago wouldn't always be the same mother. But it's fun to think she is. I had computer trouble and was without mine for one day and when I got back on I saw the babies being fed by a human. Will they have to be hand fed while they are learning to fly? That seems tricky. I'll keep checking every day.

Our group, Osprey Friends, has been following Phoebe on Facebook. Thank you for providing the cam to look into the glorious world of Phoebe. Our hearts are broken to hear of her missing and our hearts go out to you. Your attachment to her is understandable and your loving care has been a joy to witness. Phoebe's little ones will be her last gift to us. Bless you for caring and sharing!

Mr & Mrs P, my broken heart goes out to you both. When I went to light a candle for Phoebe last night I selected one I had never used before and to my delight when I pulled the lid off to light it I found it had 3 wicks one each for Phoebe, Ana and Paven. I sat outside watching it snow for a couple hours and thought of Phoebe; my most favorite memories are when she shaded the chicks last year from the blistering sun and when she fed tiny Pip upon seeing him in her nest; what a great momma! Thank you so much for sharing Phoebe with us, she has literally changed my life as now I feed the hummers in my yard and I have a dog name Birdie.
